Nexium Control 20 mg contains esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces stomach acid production in case of stomach ulcers. It is used to control the duration of acid reflux (sustaining flow in the esophagus) and protect the stomach from damage caused by acid. Nexium Control 20 mg helps control the acid reflux symptoms in people who have gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), such as people who suffer from erosive reflux disease (such as patients who have stomach ulcers). It also helps in preventing the occurrence of ulcers in people who take NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) including Prilosec (omeprazole), Prevacid (lansoprazole), Prilosec- Red (omeprazole), Prilosec- Pantoprazole (omeprazole), and others. In addition, it also reduces stomach ulcers that occur in people who use antibiotics.
Nexium Control 20 mg works by decreasing the production of acid in the stomach. It also reduces the absorption of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) by blocking the enzymes responsible for the production of acid in the stomach. Therefore, Nexium Control 20 mg reduces stomach acid secretion in case of stomach ulcers.
